31 Days to Master a New Habit

Last year was the first time I’d heard about the 31 Days Series. It was an idea conceived by one of my favorite bloggers, The Nester, who invited others to join a focused blogging challenge: choose a topic and write about it every day for 31 days. With a mix of apprehension and curiosity, I decided to take the plunge and give it a try.

Every day for the month of October, I wrote about crafting for an upcoming craft fair. That month-long blogging challenge became a meaningful turning point in my blogging journey. I discovered that I genuinely love blogging, and I took pleasure in the discipline and rhythm that come with daily posts. The process sharpened my voice, improved my writing routine, and helped me connect with a community of fellow bloggers who encouraged and inspired me along the way.

That original experience taught me several important lessons about blogging daily: how to plan content in advance, how to balance quality with frequency, and how consistent posting can boost visibility and engagement. For anyone thinking about joining a 31-day blogging challenge, these practices are useful: pick a clear theme, outline ideas before you start, and allow flexibility so you don’t burn out. A blog challenge like the 31 Days Series is as much about creative growth as it is about discipline.

As October approaches again, I’ve been thinking hard about what to write this year. I’ve been crafting lately, but the idea of producing 31 different craft tutorials felt overwhelming. Instead of stretching myself too thin, I decided to take a different direction—one that still centers on creativity and home style, but that’s more sustainable for my schedule and a better fit for readers who want practical inspiration.

This year’s theme will be “31 Ways to Make Home Uniquely You.” Over the course of 31 days, I plan to share approachable ideas for personalizing rooms, simple DIY touches, budget-friendly decor tips, and thoughtful ways to infuse your personality into everyday spaces. My goal is to provide inspiration that’s practical and easy to adapt—whether you’re decorating a small apartment, refreshing a single room, or adding finishing details to a well-loved home.

I’m excited about this concept because it lets me explore a broader range of topics related to home decor, DIY projects, and personal style. I’ll draw on lessons from my craft fair preparations, from small handmade details that make a difference to larger ideas that change how a room feels. I’ll also include reflections on process—how to plan a project, gather materials affordably, and make adjustments to suit your tastes and lifestyle.

Although I’ve run this kind of daily challenge before, I still feel a little nervous about writing 31 posts in a row. That nervous energy is a good sign: it means I care about the work and want to do it well. To keep the experience positive, I’m planning ahead with an outline of topics, batching some content in advance, and allowing room for spontaneous posts. I don’t intend to stress every day; instead, I’ll take it one day at a time and focus on sharing useful, heartfelt ideas.

If you’re curious about the upcoming series, I hope you’ll follow along. Whether you’re an experienced DIYer or someone who enjoys small, meaningful changes, my aim is to offer practical tips and fresh inspiration that help you make your home feel more like you. We’ll see how it unfolds—one thoughtful idea at a time.

Thanks for reading, and here’s to another October of intentional creativity and connection through the 31 Days Series.
