Joining the 31 Days Blogging Challenge Again: My October Project
Every year since I began blogging, I’ve taken part in the Nester’s 31 Days series, a challenge that invites bloggers to write daily on a single theme for 31 consecutive days. It’s a focused, creative sprint that pushes me to plan, create, and share more consistently than I otherwise would.
The first time I tried it, I wrote about preparing for a craft fair. I crafted, photographed, and posted each day, and somewhere around the halfway point I questioned my sanity and wondered if anyone was even reading. Despite that doubt, I stuck with it. That commitment opened doors I hadn’t expected: my burlap Christmas stockings were featured in Better Homes and Gardens, and a small blue bird sign I made spread widely on Pinterest. Those outcomes reminded me that consistent work and visible sharing can lead to surprising opportunities.
In another year I focused on making a home that felt uniquely mine, posting ideas and projects for personalizing living spaces. The following year I took on a completely different topic: I spent 31 days documenting everything I learned while cooking for a crowd—tips, recipes, planning strategies, and the logistics of feeding many people. That series was a practical, hands-on crash course that helped me build confidence in the kitchen and share tested methods with readers.
As October approaches, the annual decision resurfaces: do I take on the 31 Days challenge again? At first I told myself no. Can I realistically post meaningful, original content every day? Will I be able to balance this with other responsibilities? Those questions are valid, especially when life gets busy, but they also highlight an important goal I set for this year: to carve out time for the things I love.
Blogging is one of those things. It’s not just about posting—it’s about creating, experimenting, and connecting. It’s about documenting projects, sharing lessons, and offering ideas that might help others. Alongside blogging, I want to keep making progress on home projects, whether they’re quick updates or more ambitious renovations. The 31 Days format is a useful structure for combining both: daily posts can include project updates, tutorials, reflections, and practical tips that encourage both creativity and consistency.
So despite my reservations, I’ve decided to jump back in. I’ll be blogging every day starting October 1st. I’m approaching this challenge with a mix of excitement and realistic expectations: some posts will be in-depth tutorials, some will be shorter updates or behind-the-scenes peeks, and some will share the small discoveries that make projects feel meaningful. The diversity of post lengths and formats will help me sustain the rhythm without sacrificing quality.
At the moment the exact topic is still being decided. I’m leaning toward a theme that combines home projects, simple DIYs, and seasonal ideas—content that’s useful, actionable, and easy to adapt for different skill levels. My plan is to map out a rough editorial calendar so each week has a clear focus, which will help me stay organized and ensure a steady flow of varied, SEO-friendly content.
If you’ve been curious about launching a focused creative challenge of your own, the 31 Days format is a great way to test your commitment, build a content habit, and generate tangible results. For me, the past experiences have proven that the effort can lead to unexpected visibility and meaningful progress. I’m looking forward to sharing this year’s series, the wins and the lessons, and to reconnecting with readers through daily posts.
Stay tuned: 31 days of posts begin tomorrow, and I’ll be sharing project ideas, practical tips, and honest reflections as I go. The topic will be announced soon—I hope you’ll follow along.
