Modernize Your Bedroom with Sleek New Door Knobs

Instantly update your room with bedroom door knobs for a fresh, modern look!

While finishing a Master Bedroom refresh in our favorite modern boho style, one small detail arrived after the big reveal: the new door knobs. That tiny update made a surprisingly big difference—like jewelry for an outfit, hardware is the finishing touch that pulls a room together.

We’ve used interior door hardware to tie rooms together before, from a farmhouse hallway makeover to a two-day laundry room transformation. Swapping out old knobs for updated styles is one of the easiest, most cost-effective ways to modernize a space.

Modern Bedroom Door Knobs can update a room instantly!

Update White Interior Doors with Modern Door Knobs

Our 1990s townhouse originally had plain round brass knobs—functional, but dated. As we settled into mornings leaning against our newly upholstered headboard, the old knob and narrow trim felt like a missed opportunity. With a few changes—wider trim to echo farmhouse style and a modern knob—the whole look was elevated.

This small brass door knob and thin trim didn’t add much pizzazz to the space.

The door connects our Master Bedroom to the main bathroom, giving our suite extra convenience. It’s a functional feature that should also look intentional. After adding chunkier trim and installing a modern knob, the transformation was immediate.

Choose a color and style that complement your home

We selected the Addison Collection Georgian Knob from Schlage in Aged Bronze. That finish pairs beautifully with Simply White doors and fits our modern boho aesthetic. Schlage provides clear instructions, making installation straightforward for most DIYers.

Pick lockable knobs where privacy matters

For bedroom-to-bathroom doors, a lockable interior knob offers privacy when needed. For closet or pantry doors, a non-locking knob is usually sufficient and often more cost-effective.

Invest in quality for durability

We’ve used Schlage hardware for years and appreciate its sturdiness and finish longevity. High-quality knobs are easy to clean, stand up to daily use, and continue to look fresh over time. We also installed Schlage exterior hardware and have been pleased with its performance after years of exposure and use.

New modern pulls on bedroom bi-fold closet doors

Enhance boring bi-fold closet doors with modern pulls

Closet doors are another low-effort, high-impact spot for hardware upgrades. I’ve converted some bi-folds into french-style doors with shiplap elsewhere in the house, but when the door system isn’t sturdy enough for a conversion, large modern pulls create a “faux french door” look.

We mounted two pulls in the center of the bi-folds to mimic a double-door appearance. The result added scale and style, instantly lifting an otherwise plain closet front.

Simple hardware swaps like these are an easy way to refresh a room without a major renovation. They’re budget-friendly, fast to install, and offer a big visual return.
