Rental House Tour — A Practical, Cozy Laundry Room

I’ve been mulling over several ideas for a house tour series lately, including a short run on ways to personalize a rental home. A hanging bar mounted above the appliances provides a convenient space for air-drying delicate items—useful for sweaters and items that shouldn’t go in the dryer.

Across from the washer and dryer sits a utility sink with lower cabinets for more storage. The sink is deep enough for hand-washing, rinsing paint brushes, or tackling large items that don’t fit in the bathroom. Next to the sink is a compact but brilliant space-saving feature: a wall-mounted ironing board and iron holder. It’s one of those simple organizers that makes a big difference—out of the way yet instantly accessible when needed.

The closet near the sink houses the mechanicals—the water heater and furnace—so the room covers both cleaning and essential utility needs without feeling cluttered. All told, this little laundry room is a great example of how good design doesn’t require luxury finishes—just useful solutions in the right places. It’s a reminder that well-planned storage and a sensible layout can transform an ordinary space into something that supports daily life.
