I have a deep appreciation for antique items, those objects imbued with a sense of past life that whisper tales; a dear friend gifted me this charming piece.

Despite its aged, faded, and soiled appearance, I found a wonderful appeal in its character.
It simply required some care and a complete transformation!

I examined it and began taking it apart.

After taking out countless staples and the synthetic-feeling covering, I uncovered a sturdy, padded stool foundation. I then fitted it with new fabric, a white linen salvaged from the bottom of my new Ikea curtains for the office.

I trimmed the fabric one inch larger for seam allowance. I also cut a strip to wrap around the sides. Since I am not an upholsterer, I cannot offer a confident guide; I was improvising and hoping for the best. Sewing the band around the top worked perfectly on the initial attempt!
After stitching, I trimmed the edges, flipped it to the correct side, slipped it onto the base, tucked it beneath, and secured it with staples.
The legs received a vibrant coat of gleaming gold paint... And behold its wonderful, shabby glam appearance:

This was my first time using upholstery tacks, and I found them to be an easy way to add a delicate final detail.

There is an ideal small space for it within my closet project.

Perhaps I will complete it eventually!
