I fondly recall the sweet little boy's bedrooms seen in publications, remembering when our boys shared a room with a bunk bed and matching plaid bedspreads; the closet held totes of Lincoln Logs, matchbox cars, and marble sets, and the carpet likely held hundreds of thousands of Lego pieces.
However, time has swiftly passed, and our sons are no longer small children.
The eldest has established his own residence, and the second is in college now working close by; this transition of children leaving home has been a touch difficult for this mother, yet I accept it as a natural part of maturation.
Practically speaking, I considered how to manage the 'moving out' phase and their spaces; since the eldest took most of his possessions, I placed his 'sentimental items' into two totes and stored them.
The middle son, though, still uses his room as a temporary base while he decides on his life path; he works nearby, and we enjoy his frequent visits, though he doesn't always stay here.
Nevertheless, tidying his room became necessary; I wished for it to possess some sense of order as we passed the entrance daily.
Like many spaces in an older dwelling, this room is unique, featuring a steep slope on one side and narrow dimensions, making even bed placement challenging; after cleaning, decluttering, and doing laundry, here is the result:
This is the sole room in the house that I have not painted, arranged, or embellished.
It is time to alter that situation (HOORAY!!)
My older son is not as enthusiastic about this prospect as I am.
Nonetheless, I am confident he will appreciate the change;)
Mothers, please share your advice; what steps have you taken regarding your grown children's rooms?
Wishing you a wonderful day!
