Spring Home Ideas: Weekend Reads and Decorating Tips

Happy weekend, Sweet Friends,

The birds have been especially musical this week.

Each morning I wake to cheerful birdsong coming from the trees outside my window, and it has set a light, hopeful tone for the day.

Those bright sounds remind me of other small, joyful noises that come with warmer weather—little moments that make home feel lively and comforting:

The neighbor girls’ giggles as they play hide-and-seek behind our house.

The lively chatter and clink of plates at backyard barbecues.

But the sound that makes me smile the most?

At 7 pm, our whole neighborhood joins in a chorus of pots and wooden spoons clanging together to honor the health care workers on the front lines.

Have you heard that in your neighborhood, too?

It’s been a simple, beautiful ritual here. No matter where I am at 7 pm, the rhythm of pans and spoons rises up from the houses around us. It’s a new community soundtrack that feels both familiar and meaningful, and it never fails to lift my spirits.

Easy Breezy Weekend Reads – Springtime Ideas & Inspiration for You and Your Home

We’ve had a fun, helpful week on the blog. I shared a super-easy trick to hang pictures securely in drywall using just two hangers, and I showed the reveal of our master bedroom makeover with a bold new (black) accent wall. Both projects are practical for anyone looking to refresh their space this season.

Below are other springtime ideas and finds I enjoyed this week. These are the kinds of projects, tips, and recipes that add small, cheerful touches to daily life—perfect for a relaxed weekend of inspiration:

  • This wall hanging made from wallpaper sewn onto canvas—it’s a clever, budget-friendly art idea that adds texture and personality to any room.
  • So many free printables—handy for seasonal decorating, quick art, or to personalize gifts and notes.
  • A tiny front porch idea that proves small outdoor spaces can be charming and functional, even when square footage is limited.
  • Simple landscaping tips for when your to-do list feels overwhelming—ideas that make it easier to start small and still get big impact.
  • An honest story about moving and downsizing—a reminder that simplifying can open up new possibilities and peace of mind.
  • A podcast episode featuring one of my favorite musicians—thoughtful conversation and music that make a good companion for a slow afternoon or a road trip.

For the kitchen this weekend, one more recommendation: our family’s crisp, colorful Greek salad. It’s a favorite at our house—simple to prepare, full of fresh flavors, and pairs perfectly with grilled burgers or fish. Quick salads like this are a great way to enjoy seasonal produce and keep meals light and satisfying as the weather warms up.

Whether you’re refreshing a room, sprucing up your porch, trying a new recipe, or simply listening for the neighborhood’s evening choir of pots, I hope these ideas bring a little extra sunshine into your weekend. If one of these projects sparks your interest, take it at your own pace—small, thoughtful changes make a big difference over time.

Wishing you a peaceful, creative, and restorative weekend. Enjoy the sounds of spring where you are.
