25 Decor Essentials for the One Room Challenge

  1. Good morning — the kind that feels like a small blessing.
  2. I opened the blinds and finally saw a clear blue sky,
  3. the first bright day I’ve noticed in 32 days (not that I was keeping an official tally, but it felt notable).
  4. That sunlight gave my mood an immediate lift and a little burst of energy,
  5. and I’m hopeful it will help motivate my body to match my enthusiasm.
  6. I have a long list of tasks to complete before the One Room Challenge Reveal tomorrow — everything from styling to finishing touches. One Room Challenge
  7. I tried my best to avoid last-minute scrambling, but sometimes schedules and shipping timelines are out of our control.
  8. Some of the key pieces for the room arrived just yesterday, which shifted my timeline a bit.
  9. We were still assembling items late into the evening, working by lamplight at 8 pm.
  10. Until those pieces were in place, I couldn’t be certain how other elements would fit together.
  11. So, to be honest, the room isn’t fully finished yet.
  12. It’s a little nerve-wracking, but also energizing — there’s something exciting about this stage of the project.
  13. And did I mention we’re hosting our regular church group tonight? That adds another layer of preparation.
  14. Despite the looming deadline, this is actually the part I enjoy most.
  15. It’s the moment when the transformation starts to feel real — when accessories, lighting, and personal touches come together and the space begins to feel like home.
  16. Today I’ll channel a bit of Joanna Gaines: opening the blinds wide, letting the sunlight flood in, and arranging things until everything feels balanced and intentional.
  17. You know the scene on Fixer Upper when the kids and Chip come in with cupcakes and Joanna stays behind to put the finishing touches on the house? That’s the vibe I’m aiming for.
  18. I’ll bring out accessories, maybe pick up fresh flowers, hang a few pictures, set the table, and tweak layers of texture until the room has warmth and personality.
  19. My goal is to make the space feel welcoming and lived-in — not just pretty for a photo, but genuinely comfortable.
  20. Once it reads as home, I’ll photograph it while the sky is still clear so the images capture that natural light.
  21. That’s the plan for tonight: style, photograph, and have the reveal post ready to publish first thing tomorrow morning.
  22. Plans can change, of course, but I’m hopeful everything will come together.
