Spring Bathroom Refresh in Our Rental Home
We’ve been in our rental home for two months now, and it’s easy to love—especially the bathrooms. They feature nicely sized vanities and charming finishes that make them a pleasure to style. Until recently I hadn’t had a chance to really accessorize, so I set aside an afternoon to bring a bit of Spring into a neutral, beige bathroom. The bright weather made it the perfect time to refresh the space.

With a few simple changes the bathroom transformed into a cozier, more welcoming room. Below I outline the steps I took and why each one works—so you can recreate the look in your own rental or bathroom.

1. Start with a thorough refresh. Open the window, let fresh air in, and give the room a good cleaning. Removing soap scum and limescale from glass shower doors and grout instantly brightens the space and prepares a clean canvas for styling.
2. Introduce soft textures. Bathrooms tend to be dominated by hard surfaces, so adding tactile elements softens the atmosphere. I used a vintage linen curtain, a pom-pom garland, a plush rug, and pink bath towels to create warmth and visual interest. Textiles also help define a style without permanent changes—ideal for rentals.

3. Accessorize shelves for layered texture. Baskets are an easy, inexpensive way to add rustic charm and hide clutter. Natural woven tones pair nicely with white cabinetry and help the bathroom feel lived-in but tidy. Aim for a mix of open and closed storage to balance display and function.
4. Add fresh, seasonal art. A small, framed print or a cheerful printable brings personality to the room without taking up space. I used a bright Spring printable to inject color and a sense of the season.

5. Choose a delightful hand soap. Scent is an underrated design detail. A soap with fresh, floral, or citrus notes can instantly evoke Spring. I’m currently enjoying a basil-and-lime-scented hand soap that helps the room smell as good as it looks.

6. Bring in greenery and flowers. A pop of green livens any bathroom. Faux greenery is a low-maintenance option that always looks fresh, while a few cuttings from a flowering tree or seasonal bouquet add color and fragrance. Even small arrangements on a vanity or shelf make a noticeable difference.

These simple steps had a big impact. Soft textiles, layered accessories, fresh scent, and greenery together transformed a basic beige bathroom into a cozy, inviting space that now feels personal and seasonal. The changes are all reversible, renter-friendly, and relatively inexpensive—perfect for anyone who wants to refresh a bathroom without major updates.

Wishing you a lovely Spring day—whether the sun is shining or it’s still a bit chilly. Small styling decisions can make any bathroom feel brighter and more welcoming.
