Organizing Your Wardrobe with Bildirimlerim

The initial step for this closet transformation, followed by subsequent wonderful changes, involved clearing out and arranging everything.

For newcomers to Bildirimlerim, please note that our main bedroom initially presented a look like this:

our bedroom

Observe the small door on the right side of the image; this was designated as the “closet.” Because of the angled roofline, it tipped down and offered little genuine closet functionality, so we removed it to allow for actual walking in the area.

After tidying up the area, it appeared quite different (more details are available here). One positive aspect was the existing built-in storage along one wall.

However, these areas caused trouble; I had stowed my 'off season' clothing and footwear in totes behind those doors. The issue arose because I never found the time to properly 'switch over' items as seasons shifted.

I could no longer locate anything; a change in approach was necessary.

I discovered a useful organization guide and chose to implement some of its suggestions.

I started by taking a deep breath and grouping every piece of clothing I possessed onto the bed. Alongside items to keep, I created piles for donation, disposal, and another for temporary tote storage (in case I fit again!). This took much less time than anticipated.

Next, I organized the items I was keeping in a more sensible manner. Since our closet armoire (located outside the room door) lacked space for stacked, color-coordinated sweaters, I placed them on shelves within the room.

It functions wonderfully!

Underneath the sweaters, I neatly arranged my shoes and bags in the cupboard.

I am so relieved I no longer need to climb into a tote to search for them…

And the closet situated outside our bedroom door?

It now exclusively holds the clothes we actually wear. {What a simple realization!} I used white plastic hangers for my items and wooden ones for my husband's.

Reviewing fashion blogs about “capsule wardrobes” showed me that a large quantity of clothing is unnecessary to look polished! This inspired me to start my own “Get Your Pretty On” journey. (The complete story is available here.)

I will return tomorrow to share how I decided to create a bit more room for a touch more elegance…
