Craft a simple DIY farmhouse sign using fabric and complimentary printables for budget wall decor!
I often wish I could browse Hobby Lobby to find the perfect piece of art for my Modern Farmhouse Boho Bedroom.
However, since I reside in Canada, Hobby Lobbys are unavailable to me (I know some of you are surprised!).
I remain greatly inspired by their impressive collection of home accents and decorative items.
While considering artwork for my dark accent wall, a sudden idea struck: I would try making wall art inspired by Hobby Lobby.
This project combines elements of their farmhouse wood signs and textile hangings.
It was a fast and simple craft utilizing materials I already possessed!
Making a DIY Farmhouse Sign with Fabric & Free Printables

Materials required:
- Fabric (I repurposed scraps left over from hemming my RITVA curtains )
- Avery Iron On Transfers for Fabric (I used the dark fabric type despite ironing it onto white!)
- Iron
- Scissors
- Free Printables
- 1 x 2 inch board
Step 1: Print the free printables onto Avery Iron on Transfer paper, adhering to the package instructions.

**Tip: If fabric isn't preferred, print these printables on 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock and display them in frames.**
Step 2: Finish the fabric to the desired dimensions of 18.5 inches wide by 20 inches tall via hemming.
Iron on hem tape simplifies this step considerably!
Step 3: Carefully cut around the letters' edges and then press the transfer onto the front side of the fabric.
Arrange the text in your preferred layout; since I intended these signs for beside the bed, I designed each one to sit on the fabric's inner edge.
Refer to the transfer paper's directions for precise image transfer details.
At Step 4, gauge 18.5 inches up from the base of the wall decoration and make a faint pencil mark.
Position the 1 x 3 inch wood strip along that mark and secure the overlapping material to the wood with staples. Affix two sawtooth hangers to the back of the wall hanging and display it using this straightforward hanging method.
These simple, fast signs offer a wonderful means to beautify bare walls throughout your residence.
They look absolutely lovely positioned over our floating nightstands!
