On a spontaneous shopping trip with a friend a few weeks ago, I wasn’t really hunting for anything in particular. Somehow I got swept up in the “just try it on” mood, and I ended up bringing home a complete outfit that very day.
It’s a real departure from my usual picks, but I have to say, I love it and have already worn it plenty. It’s dressy but still a little casual and cool, which suits warm Summer days.

Sometimes accessories make an outfit even more fun, and I was delighted to finally track down two pieces I’d been looking for for quite a while:
- The perfect purse: I’m a picky purse shopper and never buy until every requirement is met. It has to feel good, be big enough for a book or two, have just the right number of zipper pockets, and of course be really cute and classy! :) Once I find a “perfect” purse, I use it until it falls apart. My last one was well past its time to retire. {This one is a Liz Claiborne I found at a wild weekend clearance sale at JCPenney.}
- Cute wedge sandals: I’ve been on the hunt for a pair like these for a long time! Many styles don’t come in my size (5 1/2), or they’re simply too high for my comfort. These are comfy. I hesitated over the fact that they’re white, but a quick Pinterest search reassured me that white shoes are cute and perfectly acceptable, too! :) (I would normally pick black.) These are BOC, found at Famous Footwear, also on a crazy clearance sale even now.
