Dignify: Handcrafted Gifts That Support Women Artisans
One of the aspects of blogging I enjoy most is forming new online friendships. Recently I received a kind email from another blogger, Shelley, who asked if I would accept a small gift from her company, dignify.ca. Naturally I was curious and eager to learn more.
On my first visit to the site I was immediately struck by the selection. The collection features thoughtful, well-made items that would fit beautifully into many homes. I could easily imagine an Ishara Distressed Basket Bowl filled with bright lemons on my coffee table, bringing a cheerful, rustic touch to the living room:
The site also showcased a charming Eva Handpainted Pot that would be perfect on an entryway shelf, welcoming guests with subtle color and handcrafted detail:
In addition to home décor, Dignify offers colorful, handmade jewelry that can brighten a simple outfit—like the Polished Tagua Bracelet, which adds a playful pop of color and a handcrafted feel to everyday wear:
As I explored further, I appreciated the story behind the business. Every product sold through dignify.ca is made by a woman artisan from around the world. Sales provide these makers with income and the opportunity to run their own small businesses, supporting both themselves and their families. Learning about the women and their craft made each item feel more meaningful—these are gifts with purpose.
A few days after my initial contact, a beautifully wrapped package arrived in the mail from Shelley. Inside was a square swatch from one of Dignify’s kantha blankets, a handmade textile produced by women in Bangladesh:
These blankets are traditionally made by layering vintage saris and hand-stitching them together; each throw is crafted from multiple layers of sari fabric, producing a unique textile with both history and character. The swatch I received is in my favorite color, and I’m planning to frame it as a small piece of wall art to remind me of the care and craftsmanship behind its making:
When I read the personal stories of the artisans and how the business empowers women, I felt genuinely moved. Products like these make thoughtful, ethical gifts—especially for occasions like Mother’s Day—because they support the maker and offer recipients something unique and handcrafted. At the time I received my package, dignify.ca was also running a giveaway for a kantha blanket; that kind of community activity helps raise awareness about fair, artisan-made goods.
If you’re searching for a meaningful, well-made present, consider items that honor craftsmanship and provide livelihoods for women artisans. Dignify’s collection offers a variety of home pieces, accessories, and handcrafted textiles that combine beauty, ethical sourcing, and the human stories that make each item special.
Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post apart from the lovely blanket swatch I received. All opinions are my own, and I hope to someday curl up in one of Dignify’s full-sized throws.
