I previously discussed how paint can completely alter a room's atmosphere.
Consider this bedroom as an illustration:
Do you recall it? In our former residence, we sarcastically called it “the coffin” due to its dim and uninviting look.
Applying a new layer of Benjamin Moore’s White Down transformed it into a cherished area for us:

Now residing in a new townhouse in a different city, it was time to refresh the standard builder’s beige setting.
My project began by saving kazallion inspiration images on Pinterest. Upon closer examination, I observed that many of my preferred Modern Farmhouse bedrooms featured white walls.
Since I had previously enjoyed Benjamin Moore’s Simply White in our Living Room, using the identical white for the bedroom seemed a logical choice.
I anticipated a significant shift from the dark beige, and I was eager to begin the work!
Despite anticipating the difficulty of painting white, I was surprised to learn it required 4 coats to fully cover the beige! After finishing, I doubted my white selection…
It appeared exceedingly white!
Nevertheless, I was committed to the attempt after all that painting (and using up a whole can…)
Referring back to my inspiration photos, I noticed how elegant black accents looked against bright white. Consequently, I installed a black curtain rod from Ikea alongside long white draperies.
That change immediately improved the look.
Next, I considered adding a feature wall color. After reviewing numerous swatches, I made a final decision.
I selected a gentle gray-blue, a shade frequently employed by Joanna Gaines in her renovations ~ Silver Strand by Sherwin Williams.
The impact of introducing that hue cannot be overstated! It provided warmth and a welcoming feel, softening the entire room.
Our area evolved from a dull, unremarkable beige…
Into something more tranquil and contemporary.
{The headboard is absent in the photos because it underwent its own minor update…;}
