I constantly seek fresh ideas for decorating the bookcase in our Living Room. A recent piece by a favored blogger (Hi, Ashley and Jamin!) offered excellent shelf styling advice. While reading their post, an image immediately caught my attention as my next design goal.

I carefully analyzed that picture to extract key design takeaways. My observations include:
- Mixing different vertical levels encourages the viewer's gaze to travel across the display.
- Books should be displayed both upright and lying flat.
- Smaller decorative pieces look lovely alongside bigger objects.
However, the most touching part was the display of vintage cameras…
After cleaning up the dried cedar boughs from Christmas, I created this arrangement, inspired by Ashley and Jamin’s post:

Featuring the old cameras was especially rewarding, as they hold personal significance for us.

These cameras must possess countless stories if they could speak aloud.

One belonged to my dad and accompanied him while serving in the Navy and during the Korean War. The second belonged to my father-in-law and traveled to Germany with him on a mission trip.
This sentiment—incorporating personal meaning—is vital in any home decor. Display items that evoke wonderful memories or simply bring you joy.
The hue yellow evokes that feeling for me…
You might be surprised by that!
