Writing this piece while riding Amtrak train number 7, moving west through Montana, the rhythmic track sound is present.

My husband and I are enjoying a wonderfully relaxed road trip, having begun over a week ago, and we are pleased not to have an immediate need to return; we just spent a wonderful week in my childhood hometown.

The scenery from the train window contrasts sharply with the West Coast views I've known from my kitchen for many years, yet it still evokes a sense of belonging after all this time.
However, 'home' encompasses far more than just what is visible outside the window, doesn't it? The past 7 days were spent immersed in family, involving laughter and abundant meals, shopping, and coffee; we enjoyed burgers, fries, and ice cream for dessert, held little babies until sleep, connected with the church community, and celebrated a young boy's birthday.

We also shared songs with my family for my wonderful Mamma and gently kissed her soft, downy hair.
Home is where memories are forged and cherished, it is the place where you are deeply understood and feel completely loved and looked after.

Departing always brings a mix of sadness and warmth.
Nevertheless, my heart overflows with thankfulness and blessings.
When we stopped at the local gas station this morning before boarding the train, we encountered my dear uncle, and before we went our separate ways, he offered a final farewell,
“You are loved!”
Indeed, this is home.
What a lovely feeling.
