Enhance your Christmas bookcase with twinkle lights and simple classic decorations
Some time ago, I noticed how wonderfully creative it was to place twinkle lights behind canvas art on a wall; the gentle glow was lovely.
This idea inspired me to scale it up for a bookcase!

Twinkle Light Christmas Bookcase Styling
Mount Twinkle Lights to Bookcase Backing
First, move the bookcase away from the wall and detach its back panel.
Though this requires some effort and assistance, the result is worth it; the backing might be thin cardboard or a veneer stapled onto the unit.
Use a flat screwdriver or a small crowbar to gently lift it, preventing any cracks or damage.
Next, secure a piece of canvas fabric to the back of the bookcase.

The back appearance is less important than ensuring the fabric is taut, stapling it uniformly from top to bottom and side to side using a staple gun for a smooth finish.
Step 3: Affix or hook a string of twinkle lights
Because my bookcase was built-in with back access, I used 3 screw in mug hooks at the top as light anchors (see preceding images); alternatively, you can secure them with strong staples at the top.
Step 4: Connect your lights to power
Ensure a power outlet is reachable before you return the bookcase to its original spot; an extension cord and some clever placement may be needed!)
Arrange the Bookcase Shelves with Festive Accents

The setup in this instance began with Christmas wreaths and shimmering gold ornaments.

I supplemented this with non-seasonal items like white kitchen pitchers and bowls, silver trays & cups, lanterns, and vases.
Books provided a means to vary the vertical heights of the displayed objects.
