A Day in My Life in the Camp Kitchen

It’s 8:05 pm, and I just got home from the kitchen. It’s been a good day. Our last group left after lunch yesterday, and today’s group (a ladies’ quilting group) arrived in the mid-afternoon. That meant I didn’t have to get up before the sun. {I really like that part.}

Since I didn’t have a blog post ready for today, I grabbed my camera on the way out the door this morning. I thought I’d show you what my day looked like.

Here’s the “To Do” list:

to do list

I needed to do some prep work for tomorrow, as well as make supper for tonight. Here’s what that looked like:

…making mini cheesecake bites. Of course, I forgot to take a picture of them finished!

…2 dozen hard-boiled eggs (for tomorrow’s chef salad bar)

boiled and smashed potatoes

With some fear and trembling, I tried a new way to make “smashed potatoes.” This is right after they were boiled and smashed. {I seasoned them and popped them in the oven later.}

Emma was my “sous chef” today. She put together a beautiful fruit platter for tomorrow’s breakfast.

Tonight’s supper was:

roasted chicken

…roasted chicken,

roasted winter veggies

roasted winter veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes, and rutabagas),

smashed potatoes

and smashed potatoes. {They turned out great. I’ll make them that way again.}

{Of course, I didn’t get the salad, the homemade bread, or the beet pickles that the ladies loved in the picture!:)}

pantry inventory 2

I’ve been trying all week to find time to write down our pantry inventory to help with future ordering, and I finally got that done, too.

Tomorrow and the day after, I’m taking off (yippee!), so I finished my day by writing Connie a note to catch her up on things.

Now I’m relaxing at home, resting my feet.

After working around all that food all day…I always find myself hungry about this time. And you know what I want?

A bowl of Lucky Charms!;)
