2. Save and Print as a Color Engineer Print
- Keep the printable saved on a USB drive or retrieve it directly from Google Drive.
- Go to your nearby print shop and request a color engineer print in the 16×20 size.
- Price range typically falls between $5–$8, varying by retailer.
A helpful reminder: Many retailers no longer provide color engineer prints, so it's wise to call and check availability first. However, larger scale prints remain an option; these are produced on heavier stock, removing the necessity of adhering an engineer print to poster board for support.
After obtaining your beautiful floral illustration, I created a tutorial detailing the step-by-step process of mounting and framing it:
Step Three: Preparing the Edges
- Position your frame atop the printed artwork and mark the internal border with a pencil.
- Excise the floral design, ensuring a one-inch perimeter remains on all sides for folding.
Step Four: Preparing the Mounting Surface
- Outline the frame's dimensions onto your mounting board and cut to fit.
- On a covered area, apply a thin layer of repositionable glue to the board.
Remember to safeguard your work area—this adhesive is very tacky!
Step Five: Affixing the Print
- Place your floral illustration centrally onto the sticky board and smooth it into position.
- Press down firmly to eliminate any trapped air.
Step Six: Folding and Securing
- Snip the overlapping paper at the corners diagonally.
- Fold each margin tightly to the rear of the board and fasten with packing tape.
Step Seven: Securing Within the Frame
- Utilize a staple gun to affix the mounted print to the rear of your DIY wooden frame.
- Install a hanging bracket on the back, positioned centrally at the summit.
