Two decades and eight years of matrimony have shown me that romance isn't always about candlelit dinners or fireworks (though those are wonderful too)

Two Years Prior: The Craft Room's Near End
During our major reduction of our home by over half, I diligently sorted, cleared, and organized everything, leaving only a few boxes. My craft supplies were situated in the corner of the 3rd bedroom.
Since our son was returning from Japan and needed that room, those boxes had to go.
The pressure of downsizing ultimately forced a difficult decision.
I confessed to my husband, 'I suppose I must discard everything.'
That moment, friends, marked the beginning of my craft room journey.
After hearing my distress, my supportive partner gently suggested an alternative approach.
The Craft Room Champion
He left the room with a clear purpose in mind.
You know, sometimes heroic figures ride white steeds.
Other times, they search a new, smaller residence until a perfect craft spot is discovered.
That is what love is, truly. (Recognize the Princess Bride reference?;))
After some time away, he returned with a big smile and invited me to 'come see'.
Navigating the staircase and rounding the bend, we approached a small door adjacent to the laundry area. He crouched down and gestured for me to join him on the floor.
Through some playful twisting, shared laughter, and gratitude for our slimmer figures, we discovered that by pulling in our stomachs, lowering our stance, and wiggling into position next to the heated water reservoir, a charming storage compartment revealed itself beneath the steps…
(Imagine orchestral swells and ethereal melodies…)
…exactly the right dimension for my entire collection of creative materials. (Insert all the cozy sentiments and heart-eyed emojis.)

Since that time, considerable effort has gone into organizing and reorganizing.
Decorative items once resided in a closet within the garage. Crafting materials occupied the linen closet and the bathroom storage area.
Our child has since established a household of his own.
Utilizing a recently vacated bedroom in our townhouse, we have at last transformed it into a rustic Craft Room & Office space.
Not only did my ‘protector’ rescue the crafting materials from disposal, but he also crafted exquisite suspension shelves for their accommodation.
The revamped chest of drawers houses textiles, glue devices, and other essential crafting items poised for transformation into fabric pillows, inscription plates or shelf adornments.
And concealed behind these exquisite shiplap-clad French portals lies all my time-sensitive ornaments. (Instructions on transforming bi-fold portals into modern farmhouse French doors can be found here.)
After numerous relocations throughout the residence, my rustic work surface has found a permanent and lovely new residence.
This area brings me genuine happiness and pleasure to utilize.
Not solely for the radiant illumination emanating from the pane~
but for the genuine affectionate memories it encapsulates.
