Budget Festive Touches for Your Home

Even though this article dates back some time, I recently realized I was applying the identical approach when setting up our home for Christmas this year! My preference…

Budget Festive Touches for Your Home

Bildirimlerim shares this insight from a few years ago, which proved useful when styling our home for Christmas this year by keeping a consistent base and adding seasonal touches.

As a new season arrives, I enjoy updating my home's appearance to reflect the changing weather, with Christmas being my most cherished decorating time.

While visiting stores for new items annually would be delightful, financial constraints often make that impractical for many.

Decorating within a limited budget frequently sparks creative solutions!

When decorating our townhouse Living & Dining Room for Christmas, the Dining Room assembled swiftly; the tree looked bright with its twinkling Aqua Blue & Red decor, and the buffet top shone in the afternoon light.

However, the Living Room proved more challenging; despite thoroughly checking my Christmas storage bins, I struggled to find a pleasing arrangement.

I eventually looked through my collection of regular home decor, discovering the simple and budget-friendly answer!

For those seeking decor inspiration, here are some suggestions:

Three methods to adapt everyday items into Christmas decorations:

  1. Arrange seasonal items on a tray

I used pine cones and faux greenery from my supplies to fill a slim coffee table tray; if you lack these, substitute any seasonal items like mandarin oranges, pomegranates, fake snow with bottle brush trees, or jingle bells.

2. Incorporate faux greenery and berries around a grouping

Though I don't typically collect, I had several lanterns, and arranging them on a coffee table tray worked well, enhanced by faux greenery clipped from a thrift store strand for a festive look.

This approach suits other collections too; for instance, grouping teacups on a tray with books for varying height, then tucking in fake greenery and candles creates instant Christmas decor!

3. Utilize kitchen dishware as decorative accents.

For a height element on a bookcase shelf, a wooden cutting board and round wicker place mat provided a perfect base for a tall pitcher and some Christmas accents, creating a charming holiday display even if not all items are strictly 'Christmas' decor.

4. Employ items for uses outside their intended function!

For example, the lovely red snowflake decorations above the free printables are actually place mats I acquired after Christmas one year, never intended for a table.
