Rudolph cookie on a plate

While some of my baking follows a precise plan, these reindeer cookies arose from a delightful, unplanned moment!

As I retrieved a batch of brownie mix cookies from the oven, I noticed I had some mini pretzels in my cupboard. I spontaneously decided to create my own reindeer cookies with what was immediately available. They were wonderfully simple and enjoyable to prepare, so I wanted to share this straightforward method for making reindeer cookies with you.

Why This Recipe Shines

With just a few carefully positioned additions, you will feel like a holiday cookie designer! With a bit of adult assistance, these cookies are also a fun activity for children.

Necessary Ingredients

Rudolph Cookie Assembly

  1. Prepare the brownie mix cookies following the simple brownie mix cookie recipe.
  2. Once they exit the oven, lightly affix to each cookie: 2 pretzel ears 2 chocolate chip eyes 1 red Rudolph nose using a red M&M
  3. Allow the cookies to rest on the pan briefly before transferring them to a wire rack to cool entirely.

Helpful Suggestions

  • Act promptly to press the candies onto the cookies while they retain warmth, but ensure the pressure is delicate.
  • Position the chocolate chips with care and refrain from touching them afterward, as melting could cause a mess if repositioned.
  • The arrangement of the eyes dictates how amiable your reindeer appear; I prefer grouping them closely with the nose centered below.

Ingredient Alternatives

Some Rudolph cookies feature cute candy googly eyes, but I couldn't locate any in our Canadian locale. If you have time, ordering from Amazon is an option, or you might find them locally!

Another approach I have observed involves affixing the candies after cooling using icing or melted chocolate; this should also work well.

Presenting Rudolph Reindeer Cookies

These holiday reindeer cookies look lovely on any cookie tray. For a unique presentation, try a vintage cookie sheet lined with crumpled parchment paper. Scatter some festive candy around for extra cheer. These cookies could even be the focal point of a Christmas cookie charcuterie tray!

Required Tools

No special equipment is needed with these chocolate reindeer cookies – except my normal favorite cookie baking supplies and some googly eye candy if you’d like!

Tools you’ll need

The above are Amazon affiliate links for your shopping convenience. They are similar to items I use in my own kitchen.

Storage

The pretzel ears make these Rudolph cookies a bit fragile to store. I laid them out very carefully in large plastic containers and placed parchment paper between the layers and froze them since I wanted to use them later.

They can be stored in any airtight container or ziploc bag and be kept at room temperature for 3 days.
