Structuring the garage into distinct activity areas really boosts Garage Organization
When conceptualizing the 8 Week Organization Challenge, I segmented our residence into 8 distinct sections.
For the last 6 weeks, I focused on one area each week; this week, around week 7, is dedicated to the garage.
However, when I selected the garage, I neglected to consider how COLD it would be seasonally! Therefore, I will share the work completed in the garage last Summer, as the systems established then remain effective.
To briefly summarize for newcomers: We inhabit a townhouse unit featuring a compact covered garage, which serves as both our primary storage and workshop.
Upon moving in, it resembled a large storage depot filled with belongings during our downsizing phase.

After decluttering and deciding what to retain, we envisioned our ideal garage setup, which required specific functional 'zones'.
The Workshop Area
Establishing a workshop space was a top goal for the garage reorganization; my husband found a suitable workbench plan from Shanty 2 Chic after online searching.

Pegboard was mounted above the workbench, allowing easy visibility and access to our tools.

A multi-drawer tool box situated nearby offers excellent storage while maintaining a neat and tidy appearance!
The Seasonal Decor Section
As a decor enthusiast, I enjoy rotating decorative items throughout the year; I needed an organized way to keep everything easily locatable, using a wardrobe from our former bedroom as the solution.

This spot houses both seasonal decorations and various cleaning supplies.

Additionally, large kitchen items that won't fit in my small kitchen are stored there.
(For a complete guide to organizing seasonal decor, review my guest post for Kenarry.)
The Freezer Area
Though not aesthetically pleasing, we needed a place for our chest freezer; it sits next to the seasonal decor cupboard, making it easy to retrieve items even when it's cold there.

Painting Materials
The shelving unit adjacent to the freezer now stores all painting supplies, excluding the paint itself, kept inside for more consistent temperature.
Though still evolving, our garage is becoming increasingly practical; we have future plans for it and will continue when the weather is more favorable for exterior tasks.
It has certainly made significant progress until now!
Prior State

In Progress (Before the workbench installation!)

Keep an eye out for additional 'After' enhancements as the weather becomes better.
