Simple Paths to Wellness Without Intense Exercise

Following a bout of abdominal discomfort and a physician's recommendation for better fitness, I began two straightforward actions for a healthier life. Despite fitness…

Simple Paths to Wellness Without Intense Exercise

It is better to possess fitness even if you carry some weight than to be overweight but unwell

When the physician spoke, he quickly chuckled, remarking that he would never mention the word fat...

We shared a laugh, yet the core message remained clear.

The doctor's advice was:

Improve your fitness and shed a small amount of weight.

What a hassle.

Among all my hobbies, becoming fit is not one of them, nor is figuring out how to “lose a little weight”; the mere thought prompts a desire for a nap under my pillow.

However, discomfort acted as a strong motivator, and I felt it. By the time the “getting fit” discussion occurred, I had been experiencing stomach discomfort for more than a month. It wasn't severe, but it was persistent and irritating. I have managed digestive problems for much of my life, but this felt novel and somewhat concerning.

A comprehensive set of tests showed everything was okay, but apparently, I needed to “get fit” anyway! :)

I left the clinic resolved to implement several lifestyle adjustments regarding health and fitness.

Past attempts at extremes never succeeded for me; I didn't need to avoid gluten, dairy, sugar, or anything else—“free” (Thank goodness!)

Nonetheless, I aimed to take actions that would boost my long-term health.

My strategy began on Pinterest. I started saving recipes, exercises, and related articles. During this pinning session, the concept of infused water caught my attention.

I had never encountered it, but it seemed appealing. One article suggested that certain infused water mixtures could aid digestion and curb appetite. I am not a health authority, but I decided to try it.

The initial step involved visiting Starbucks to purchase a large, stylish cup, much like those favored by the “cool kids” :)

Every morning, I fill it with ice water mixed with a few slices of strawberries and lime.

I must say: I adore it! It looks lovely, tastes good, and I drink way more water than previously.

Another focus has been taking a walk nearly every day. We are discovering lovely walking paths throughout the town. My favorite route ascends and circles until we turn a corner and see this:

Its beauty still amazes me…

Today is a holiday in Canada. We are preparing a packed lunch to explore a new walking trail.

This pursuit of “getting fit” is {perhaps} turning into something enjoyable.

I am pleased to share that these minor changes are already yielding positive outcomes. I have not lost weight, however, the stomach pain is gone! (Yes!)

P.S.: Alongside this new blog design (do you like it?), I have begun using Instagram! I am still learning it, but finding it fun and would appreciate you following me there. Furthermore, for those seeking healthy recipes like me, this straightforward summer meal combination is one we use frequently these days. Praise for barbecue weather! :)
