Cherished Handwritten Notes for Your Home

A recent message brought a wave of sadness, yet also resurfaced cherished recollections.

Everyone encounters influential figures in their lives; for me, my mom was one such person, with years of shared moments.

Others entered and left my life briefly, yet their effect was profound, sparking inspiration that has endured for decades.

A wonderful woman named Sharon exemplifies this; I vividly recall a meaningful post-dinner chat with her, retaining some of her precise words.

She possessed a spirit of godly wisdom, showing deep care through the love of Jesus.

Currently, she is seriously unwell, spending her final day at home before moving to hospice care.

My heart feels heavy, prompting me to recall the beautiful keepsake she gave me following that dinner discussion: a handwritten note featuring quotes from our talk.

I still possess that note, having found it some time ago, but I couldn't locate it today.

Fortunately, I previously documented this experience in a post on February 8, 2011.

The available photos are small; I will reshoot them when I find the original, but here is the initial account:

I noticed a home styling piece by Nate Berkus some years back; though details are fuzzy, he displayed a framed note written to him by Oprah, emphasizing surrounding our homes with inspiring items that reflect our life narratives.

While I lack a famous handwritten note, I do have one that deeply moves me, penned by Sharon Hanson, a kind lady who joined my life last summer while staying at the cottage near my home.

Before her departure, she gave me a note containing quotes from a book we had discussed, and it has remained on my refrigerator since that day.

Reflecting on those words today, I realized it deserved more than just fridge placement, so I placed it in a recently acquired clearance frame.

I then displayed it next to my bedside lamp.

Although I could have made a photocopy with smaller margins, I preferred the authentic piece; I cherish the feel of the simple notepaper and her actual ink. Looking at it inspires me beyond the text; it also brings back the memory of Sharon and our talk at that camp dining room table. Her warmth lifted my spirit, made me feel truly cared for, and motivated me to extend that kindness to others.

The quote she penned for me reads as follows:

Someone once stated, “When you love, give it everything you’ve got, and when you’ve reached your limit, give it more and forget the pain of it, because as you face your death it is only the love you have given and received which will count. All the rest – the accomplishments and struggles, the fights – will be forgotten in your reflection, and if you have loved well, then it will have been worth it, and the joy of it will last you through the end. ” “At the moment of death, we will not be judged by the amount of work we have done but by the weight of love we have put into our work.” – Mother Teresa (Sourced from the book “Lifegiving” by Tammy Maltley)

My thoughts and prayers are with Sharon and her family today; thank you for your devotion to the Lord, Sharon. You truly transformed my life.
