Strange health troubles started when I was a slim 6th Grader, but the real clarity arrived about four years ago with a fibromyalgia diagnosis.
Those initial months after diagnosis were difficult; I navigated endless advice while in physical pain and medication-induced haze.
I now view this condition as a blessing.
Indeed, it feels like a gift from above.
This 'camp director’s wife' role demands perfection, and I feel pressure to mentor and share Jesus’ light, believing others expect this too, plus wanting to 'fix' every issue!
This mirrors some burdens a Pastor’s wife might carry.
However, this health issue has released me from significant guilt regarding my role.
Through it, God clearly shows me when rest is appropriate.

This past week exemplified that truth.
Despite a busy family camp, my husband managed the 'Where’s your wife?' inquiries kindly.
I no longer feel shame admitting I cannot manage everything.
When my spine feels like lit dynamite, my head tingles, and muscles feel like jelly, staying away from loud crowds is wise.
Snuggling under my polyester quilt on the couch is best.
And that is perfectly fine.
It was actually a lovely week; between naps and reading, I enjoyed the sunny blue sky, picking pansies, and having ginger ale breaks with friends on the deck.

I am focusing on 'relaxing to feel better soon' because in just a few days...
I am traveling to Montana to visit my family!
If things are quiet here, you know where I am; I plan to bring my camera and might update you occasionally.
Otherwise, I will share highlights upon my return.
Wishing you blessings today...
Remember, it's alright; do not feel guilty if you also need time to rest!
