Preparing for Your Move with Bildirimlerim

The second week of our house clearing and moving preparations has concluded, revealing a complex web of decisions from various angles. We are both discarding unused possessions, sending piles to the garbage and thrift store, and simultaneously planning the layout for our upcoming residence.

reimagining the living room arrangement!

Is this a typical action during a move?

In reality, there was a strategy behind this endeavor. I used a conceptual floor plan of our new home, drawn only from memory, to map out furniture placement, but this proved insufficient without precise measurements. Consequently, I simulated a 'mock' new living room within our current space.

I discovered this engaging activity was beneficial in two ways:

  1. it fostered a tranquil, orderly area amidst the house's current disarray,
  2. and it helped sort out new decorative items for the destination living room.

While organizing the packing, I'm also considering a smooth transition to our new home. We plan to pack the living room last, grouping all its decor into the 'living room' container so at least one space feels ready soon after arrival.

Excitingly, I will have 2 fireplace mantels to adorn in our new home! A quick Pinterest search sparked inspiration, and I practiced a setup on our dining room buffet.

This practice setup is now in the “Living Room decor” box for easy assembly at the new location. (And I'm certain I'll refine it repeatedly… Ha!)

We have chosen to postpone packing the Living Room. This ensures a space where we can unwind without being enveloped by stacked boxes…

I appreciate the helpful moving advice shared by some of you. The colored duct tape suggestion for labeling boxes was wonderful; I employed it yesterday while packing our son’s room. Since he loves duct tape, he already had various colors ready!
