A daily shoe dilemma greets us at our entrance. Each morning, before the house fills up, I tackle this little mountain of footwear…

As a child, I clearly recall a firm edict in our home: shoes were mandatory at all times. A visiting missionary duo from Japan shared that locals there remove their shoes at the entrance. I found that hilarious!…
…That was, until I relocated to Canada and discovered they do the same!!
I have wholeheartedly adopted this habit, as it significantly reduces the amount of grime brought inside.
{Additionally, I’ve observed that many of my American relatives have also taken up this practice recently.}
But, how exactly, do you maintain some organization in your shoe setup???
I chose to implement a fresh approach.
The first obstacle was the storage closet…

Over time, it turned into a jumbled mess of items stuffed into every nook and cranny. I completely cleared it out and uncovered garments and miscellaneous objects I hadn't considered in years.
I attempted to fit a larger shoe rack into the area to see if it would improve the layout. After lamenting that it was just a bit too wide, I realized I could ‘jam’ it in (carefully, but with determination, naturally!) and transform it into a shelf, with a smaller rack positioned underneath. Now, the shoe storage sits at the front of the space rather than languishing in the back.

I finally tagged the mitten and hat containers…

and the central basket now holds my gardening gloves and pruning shears.
Now, all the footwear has a designated spot.
Do you think this solution will be effective??
