Transform your sloppy joes into a nutritious dinner without sacrificing taste using this fast and simple recipe – Turkey Sloppy Joes.
My mother possessed the ultimate sloppy joe formula.
I prepared it so frequently during my high school years that I have completely memorized the process.
Several years back, I set out to cultivate better eating habits and stumbled upon Dr. Oz’s lighter take on Sloppy Jims – a homemade version featuring ground turkey in place of beef.
I merged my mother’s exceptional sloppy joe creation with Dr. Oz’s healthier adaptation and developed this particular recipe. I have been preparing it consistently ever since.

Home-Style Turkey Sloppy Joes Preparation

- One and a quarter cups of ketchup
- Two tablespoons of mustard
- One tablespoon of vinegar
- One tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- One tablespoon of brown sugar
- Seasoning with salt and pepper to taste
Initial step: In a spacious skillet, cook the pepper and onion together until the onion becomes clear and the pepper reaches a tender-crisp texture.

Second step: Incorporate the ground turkey and continue cooking until it is fully browned and cooked through completely.

Third step: Mix in all the remaining components. Stir thoroughly and allow to cook until everything is heated evenly throughout.

Presentation ideas for turkey sloppy joes.
These turkey sloppy joes can be enjoyed exactly like the classic version – placed inside a bun to create a sandwich!
Excellent accompaniments include potato chips, baked french fries, pickles, and cheese slices.
Alternatively, for a more nutritious option, omit the bun and present them atop roasted sweet potatoes.

We enjoy a side of spinach salad, and it creates the most delightful fast and simple meal!
For other ways to make these Turkey Sloppy Joes:
- Include a can of drained and rinsed black beans to increase the number of servings. Simply add an extra 1/4 cup of ketchup to the mix.
- Agave syrup serves as a suitable replacement for sugar.
- Yellow mustard can be swapped out for Dijon mustard.
