Using Small Kitchen Renovation Ideas to Increase Kitchen Enjoyment
1. Envision possibilities prioritizing functionality first.
I must confess.
I have spent numerous hours imagining what our small kitchen could become.
Realistically, one minor alteration could trigger massive spending, reaching thousands of dollars.
That is simply not feasible for us right now!
Nevertheless, I desire my kitchen to be a pleasant space to inhabit—right now!
Are you experiencing the same situation?
Similar to the kitchen remodel before & after from our prior residence, I resolved to enhance our current kitchen's appearance and operation without significant financial outlay!
For context, after our last kitchen before & after, this is how it turned out:

The new paint hue successfully replaced the dreadful color it possessed after we moved into the townhouse.
My favorite detail was repurposing a cupboard for a small coffee station.

It has mostly stayed consistent since that time.
2. Determine the desired changes and the reasons for remodeling
Before commencing any room transformation, I always identify my personal issues. In this instance, there were 2 concerns:
- The kitchen felt dim and uninviting for work. I wished to leave it quickly!
- Preparing any baked goods was tough because all my ingredients were tucked away in the tightest kitchen corner. I felt constrained while working.
3. Small kitchen colors offer a very impactful renovation tool
I thought painting it a lighter shade could make my kitchen seem both brighter and larger. I selected Simply White by Benjamin Moore because it matches the white used throughout the rest of the house.
Plus, I already had an unused can of paint at home. (This translates to a zero-cost renovation—a definite win for me!)

Even though 4 coats were needed for full coverage, I immediately appreciated the room's improved atmosphere.
Another significant modification involved removing the very unattractive duct for the stove fan, which we never utilized anyway.
Arrange belongings to optimize compact kitchen storage solutions
Next, I relocated all my baking provisions to the most spacious work area

It is astonishing how much a minor adjustment can achieve

Now I avoid squeezing into a tight spot when operating the mixer
Refresh the interior design
The exposed shelving above the coffee maker is perfect for injecting character and storage into our small area; thus, I chose a complete shift toward boho modern decor.

The inclusion of wooden shelves and warm wood decorative touches brings distinct character to this otherwise monochrome space

I hadn't considered placing art on the shelf's back until seeking kitchen ideas, discovering the charming cottagecore decor trend!
Placing houseplants on the windowsill and shelf adds vibrancy and color; plus, I now have readily available fresh mint!

So, these are simple, economical methods to update your kitchen's appearance without altering any walls, cabinets, or countertops!
