Yesterday morning, we noticed the first snowflakes falling as we looked out the window.

My husband and I were staying at a friend’s condo on a mountain nearby. The view was gorgeous and peaceful, but we also felt a flutter of worry. We had to get off that mountain before we got stranded!
We had important plans for the day, after all~

We were headed out to do our Christmas shopping!
We fully expected to find no snow once we wound our way back down, but no such luck. It was falling at sea level too.

The roads were clear where we were going, though, so we pressed on with our plans. It turned out to be a lovely day of shopping. The malls were quiet (I suppose the snow scared everyone off?), and somehow we found what we were after very quickly.
As we neared our little island home in the evening darkness, the snow began to fall again. By the time we pulled into our driveway, a crunchy pile had already built up.

Snow is a rare treat around here. When it does come, it rarely sticks around, and it turns into a slippery, slushy mess!
This time, though, it’s COLD!
And…oh, so beautiful.

So today, while the kids shriek and sled down the hills nearby, I’m curled up by the cozy woodstove, wrapping presents.

This Mrs. Claus is getting ready for Christmas!:)
