I recently came across this lovely image:

Doesn't that sofa look incredibly cheerful? Those blossoms are particularly charming. {It originated from a Facebook page named Happy Chair; even the business name brings a smile to my face!}
Its delightful appearance stayed in my thoughts.

While tidying up our residence, I noticed a picture that used to be in our upstairs bathroom was now in the Living Room. I admit, I'm a little home-thief.

The bare wall with just two nails wasn't very appealing…
Therefore, I decided to craft a 'happy flower' decoration accompanied by a picture.
Here is the final result:

I applied paint to an 18” x 19” sign on some thin plywood from the basement. It even features playful pencil marks from one of the boys. Since our youngest is now 13, it has clearly been unused for a while!

I employed my usual painting technique:
1. Generate text using a computer. {I initially designed the sign in Photoshop.}
2. Apply the basecoat.
3. After the basecoat dries, transfer the lettering using graphite paper.
4. Color in the words.
5. Affix a hanger to the reverse side.
{A guide for these steps is available here.}

I searched extensively online for a template for a large fabric flower. Ultimately, I decided to improvise and create something unique. {A little nerve-wracking!!} I will show you how I made it tomorrow.

It is currently displayed in its new small bathroom setting…

However, it looks quite striking in the entryway as well.
It might just get taken… ;)
