A few months ago a reader came across my old post about painting European cupboard doors and wanted to know how the paint was holding up.
Great question!
It’s been 4 years since I did that paint job, and time is the best measure of how well it really worked out.
If you weren’t reading my blog back then, we tackled a budget renovation of our kitchen. Using what we already had and shopping thrifty, we set out to make it feel more like “us” without breaking the bank! The existing cupboards were actually quite nice, but I wasn’t a fan of the wooden trim or the lack of handles.

I taped off the wooden parts, primed them with oil-based primer, and painted them in Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White. (You can read the original tutorial here.)

Now, 4 years later, I must say I still quite like my cupboards. The paint shows the most wear on the two doors right below the sink, which makes sense since they get the most use!

If I get motivated, a quick coat of Cloud White and they’ll be good as new again…
