Handmade Goods for a Good Cause

A special endeavor was completed by me yesterday.

A friend is hosting a fundraising garage sale or farmer’s market for the camp where I volunteer. I planned to have a display of handcrafted items, envisioning a table adorned with signs and shabby chic accents. However, time constraints meant I could not achieve my initial vision entirely, forcing a last-minute push.

Nevertheless, the single item I truly desired to create, named “Margaret’s Verse,” is now complete.

Margaret and her husband Alf were the catalysts God employed to establish this camp many years ago. The ministry began simply, utilizing a boat, limited provisions, and profound faith. As time passed, land became accessible, leading to the development of the site now known as Camp Homewood, which serves thousands of campers annually as a year-round destination.

God has granted Margaret and Alf many wonderful years, reaching the mid-90s. Margaret remains a spirited woman whose deep faith in His Word is evidenced by her personal accounts of God accomplishing seemingly impossible things throughout her life.

Recently, we have begun referring to a particular verse as “Margaret’s Verse” because, during conversations, she often firmly takes your arm, meets your gaze, and states, “But you know,”

‘Our God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or imagine. Ephesians 3:20’”

This scripture is relevant to practically every single subject discussed!!

Having witnessed His work for over 90 years, her confident declaration of this verse is completely understandable!

I have also been crafting additional signs utilizing antique windows as frames; I have such an affection for old windows!

This particular piece draws inspiration from my sign-making role model, Aimee Weaver, and features a chalkboard on one side…

Currently, it is displayed near my entrance, but I guarantee it will be available at the sale.:)

Though I have never listed such large items on my Etsy shop, I plan to add some there too for those wishing to buy online. Since each window has a unique size, no two are identical. Once more items are listed in {the currently nearly empty!} Etsy, all earnings from this month will support the ministry of Camp Homewood.

{For those nearby, the sale takes place this Saturday, September 22, at 451 7th Ave, Campbell River, BC. Please stop by to greet us; coffee and cinnamon buns will likely be available!}
