Crafting Simple Paper Ornaments From Old Books
Last summer while visiting family, my sister-in-law demonstrated how to create lovely star ornaments using aged book pages, something I've wanted for my tree since then; I recently had the chance to try it out.

Creating Star Ornaments from Book Pages
Materials needed for paper ornaments:

- Nine 3 x 3 inch squares from old books, such as an old hymnal that was falling apart.
- Twine for suspension
- Adhesive that is stronger than a standard glue stick
- Sparkly bobbles for the center, although buttons would also look appealing
- Double sided tape for affixing the central piece
First, fold the eight sections that will form the star points; I made a brief video to illustrate this process:
Next, after folding all eight star components, adhere them onto the single remaining 3 x 3 inch paper piece, arranging them closely together.
Remember to attach the hanger string first (as I did!) before gluing...
Third, after everything is glued in place, secure the center piece using double sided tape.
{Mine featured a pop-up design, and it functioned wonderfully.)

Ways to use these paper star ornaments:
- Decorate your Christmas tree with them.
- Present a collection as a homemade present to a friend.
- Employ them in place of a bow when wrapping a parcel.
- Vary the paper colors for a diverse appearance.
- Opt for buttons instead of sequins for a more rustic aesthetic.
