Reasons why these kitchen implements deserve investment
I recall my mother and grandmothers delighting in visiting kitchen supply stores.
They would become excited upon finding a novel kitchen gadget, often picking one up to test it out.
Occasionally, these finds were successful, and at other times, they were not!
The kitchen tools I'm showcasing today are those I have consistently used in my own kitchen.
Each serves a precise function, and I find this significantly improves my kitchen workflow.
These kitchen aids would make superb gift selections!
Many of these gadgets cost modestly and suit stocking stuffers, bridal shower baskets, or simply tying onto a gift with a bow.

18 Most Frequently Used Kitchen Gadgets
- Herb scissors – When I first received this as a gift a few years back, I didn't recognize it. Now, I cannot manage without them! They are ideal for clipping fresh herbs from the garden for garnishes.
- Garlic press – This speeds up the process when a recipe demands minced garlic. Simply insert a clove, seal it, and instantly, it's ready!
- Icing spreader – My mom frequently employed one of these for frosting cakes and cupcakes, and I do as well!
- Small spatula – Extracting the first portion from a pan can be tricky; this little flipper works perfectly. I also use it for lifting small cookies from the cooling sheet after baking.
- Lemon/ lime juicer – Since acquiring this handy gadget, I use fresh lemon juice much more. Slice a lemon, place half (skin side up) in the holder, squeeze, and the fresh juice pours out.
- Small mini chopper – You might be surprised, but I have never owned a food processor. While my blender is versatile, this small mini chopper is great for nuts, breadcrumbs, or turning oreos into crumbs. I have owned mine for over 25 years and love it.
- Piping tips for cupcakes – I once thought decorating cupcakes with icing was difficult. In reality, it is the easiest method to frost cupcakes, and they look beautiful, too.
- Fine mesh strainer set – My set of 3 fine mesh strainers is a favorite. The largest is for sifting flour or powdered sugar. The small one dusts sweets nicely, and the middle one is perfect for rinsing berries for yogurt. I hang mine in my kitchen and use them often.
- Fun apron – Although not a kitchen 'gadget,' I wear mine constantly. It makes me feel more polished and adds enjoyment to cooking (which is great for those who aren't enthusiastic cooks!).
- Grater – I appreciate this fundamental grater, which offers 4 distinct grating options. It functions well and is simple to clean.
- Silicone spatulas – I began using silicone spatulas some time ago, paying a bit more. Even many years later, I still rely on my 2 favorites: a slender one and a scoop-shaped one. I purchased mine from Pampered Chef, and I am impressed they remain snowy white after all this time.
- Whisk – It took me some time to adopt a whisk in my kitchen (I'm unsure why?). Now, I use it frequently for whipping eggs for scrambling, blending dry ingredients, and stirring roux and gravies to prevent lumps.
- An egg slicer makes preparing sliced or diced eggs for potato salad and egg salad sandwiches remarkably simple.
- While two knives work for pastry, obtaining a pastry cutter will significantly ease the task.
- A cookie scoop ensures consistent size for all your cookies, saving considerable preparation time; select your preferred size from the available options.
- Unlike bristled brushes that were difficult to keep clean in my kitchen, this silicone brush cleans easily in the dishwasher after use.
- My mother instructed me to use a peeler for potatoes, and I now rely on one for peeling potatoes and carrots.
- Using a meat mallet and tenderizer to pound meat into thin, uniform pieces helps them cook much faster, proving to be highly effective.
