Several years prior, we acquired two charming Arstid wall lamps from Ikea, which were featured in photos from our former Beach Cottage Bedroom.

We enjoyed these lamps for a long time until one shade detached from the glue, and despite numerous attempts, I could not reattach it like Humpty Dumpty.
Regrettably, Ikea does not stock replacement lampshades for this specific lamp model.
My search for suitable shades proved difficult because of the lamp's unique design.
I then began considering creative alternatives instead of seeking exact matches.
While waiting in the Ikea checkout line last month, I noticed this item:

Lanterns designed as tea light holders; testing them on the wall lamp confirmed they fit perfectly!

Because the black shade on the silver lamp appeared slightly uneven, I chose to refresh it with spray paint.
Using painter’s tape to secure the chain and cord, I applied Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint to the lamp base.
Next, I taped the entire exterior surface of the lampshade with painter’s tape.

I ensured every piece of tape was pressed down securely to prevent paint bleed through the cutout patterns, then I sprayed the interior with metallic gold paint.
While I omitted photos of some stages, I documented the entire process on Facebook Live at [here] and [here]. (For advice on creating a spray paint booth and painting techniques, please visit those links.)

The internal gold paint enhances and warms the illumination, lending a subtle gleam to the area; we are very pleased with the final result:

Mounting the lamps on the wall maximizes nightstand space, which is wonderful for compact rooms!
