Valentine's Day Decor You Can Find at the Grocery Store!

It was 11 p.m. on Sunday after a tiring two weeks of travel as we entered our home. A few brief texts to our teenage sons prompted them to tidy up before Mom arrived, which was successful; the kitchen counters were clear and all food was stored. {Thanks, Boys!}

Upon setting down my carry-on bag, I instantly saw the house needed considerable attention. I had worked hard to finish the Attic Room before leaving, and it looked wonderful, but the rest of the house felt dull after removing the 'Christmas' items.

A splash of color and decoration was necessary right away.

I started with the Entryway, as it was the first spot that caught my eye, but I lacked inspiration; my usual decorations felt unexciting.

What should I do?

My next stop was the grocery store—yes, grocery store decor it would be.

1. Seek out enduring flowers in the floral aisle.

The floral section was the natural first stop; I was pleased to find some cheerful tulips and a large mixed bouquet at half price. Cut tulips last 7-10 days in water, so I bought two bunches since they were still vibrant.

3. Find vibrant fruit in the produce section.

Next, I visited the fruit section. While I usually use lemons, granny smith apples and limes felt perfect this time, creating a happy green look.

3. Group items in various vessels and display them on a shelf or table.

First, I covered my unimpressive table with a custom ruffled tablecloth.

These small decorative scenes don't always come together instantly; I adjusted and rearranged many times, but that's part of the decorating joy, isn't it?

4. Repurpose everyday objects as Valentine's Decor

I enjoy reusing decorations, just adapting them seasonally; here are some ideas from this Valentine's setup:

  • Cover older books with white or colored paper to achieve a uniform appearance.
  • Display a print with a valentine saying in a frame; printable valentine gift tags can also be framed as art.
  • Arrange vintage teacups featuring delicate floral artwork.
  • Line up bud vases or small vintage jars, placing a single flower bud in each.
  • Remember to check your kitchen; white pitchers and bowls serve as excellent display fillers.
