We are pausing our usual content for a significant update.
Today marks our son's birthday.
This is the first instance in 19 years he has been unable to join us for the celebration face-to-face. (Though, arranging his cake on the exact day feels like a near impossibility, honestly.)
Look at how adorable he was?? And observe those pajamas that were too short, so I trimmed the legs myself…
Am I being economical as a parent?
Or perhaps just a bit unfashionable?…

Given that this series focuses on culinary arts, it makes sense for Joel to be involved somehow. As you can observe, he enjoyed cooking from a very young age. Truthfully, his main interest was consuming the baked goods, so he took up the practice. If my memory serves correctly, that photograph was taken in the year we established the yearly family custom of baking Christmas sugar cookies. That tradition concluded that same year… The children consumed so much dough during the rolling phase that very little remained to bake!:)
