Top Ten Art Materials for Your Craft

For fellow bloggers, you'll grasp my quandary; I recently shared that I began renovating an attic room, showcasing the best initial photos from that small area.

Subsequently, I have been working with intense dedication.

I am worn out, feeling aches in muscles I never knew I possessed, yet the project is complete! {Hooray!!}

This leads to my hesitation; while I eagerly await sharing the finished look, I first wish to detail the entire procedure. I often feel slightly dishonest when documenting events that didn't occur on that precise day.

Please understand from the start, the bulk of the work in this room took only 3 days, though I plan to narrate this tale slowly. {That's just how we bloggers operate!}

Today, I will offer a glimpse of the disarray covering our upstairs landing, where my beloved painting materials were scattered.

favorite painting supplies

1. Painter’s Drop Cloth: {Under no circumstances should you substitute an old sheet when a proper drop cloth isn't available; I have a cautionary tale about that error.}

2. Foam Rollers: These conform well to older boards.

3. Roller Handle

4. Plastic Wrap: If you pause painting for a coffee break, tightly wrapping your brush and roller in this prevents paint from drying, though this only lasts briefly (up to 1 day). {I sometimes place a wrapped brush in the freezer for later use; thaw and apply, but it is not a permanent solution.}

5. A quality paint brush: Properly cleaning it after every use ensures longevity.

6. Mary Kay’s Satin Hands Exfoliant Scrub: This is wonderful for removing paint splatters from your hands, and it has a pleasant scent too!

7. Cottage Cheese containers: I utilize these to dispense small paint amounts for brushwork, which is easier than a heavy bucket, and also for storing small leftovers. {I mark the paint type on the lid.}

8. Paint tray and liners: I prefer the liners, allowing me to continue rolling with multiple paints; {my husband disagrees, as he dislikes paint tray liners!}

9. Step ladder: Being shorter, a step ladder is essential; I am usually on the third step when cutting in, ensuring eye-level work.

10. A long handle for the roller: Again, due to my height, I use any means possible to simplify the task!

There you have it; after taking the photo, I remembered other items, such as a cloth that is 1/2 wet and 1/2 dry, enabling immediate cleanup and drying of spills; I generally have about 5 on hand.

It seems DIY projects create a mess in my home, not just for me!
