Moving Ahead and Saying Farewell

Finding out the relocation date advanced by 8 days surprisingly energized the packing effort, as this adjustment better suited our plans, though it certainly accelerated…

Moving Ahead and Saying Farewell

The news that our moving date advanced by 8 days provided an unexpected boost of motivation, even though it has significantly quickened our pace, making my box labeling less meticulous than usual.

The residence feels increasingly empty, with bare walls and rooms, and the bathroom only sporting one spare roll of toilet paper, all just 5 days before the moving truck arrives.

A few days ago, the emotional farewells associated with this relocation truly affected me.

My feelings are a mixture of both.

Saying goodbye is never easy, and leaving this community after nearly 24 years is particularly poignant.

Yet, considering the larger perspective, I know a significant part of this location will remain in my heart; it's where we welcomed our little baby boys home from the hospital.

It was also where we connected and collaborated with some of the most wonderful individuals we've ever encountered.

We watched the children grow from small campers to teenagers, then young married adults, and now they are raising their own families!

Being involved in this place and ministry has been a profound and life-altering privilege, shaping my identity today.

I learned long ago that departures are often just 'see you later' moments, not final goodbyes, and this is no exception; this place will forever be woven into our memories regardless of where we go next.

Now, surrounded by boxes, I feel incredibly eager to unpack and transform our next residence into a true 'home'—that feeling is one of my greatest joys.

While driving to an appointment this afternoon, we heard the song {Casting Crowns – Dream for You}, which felt perfectly suited to this life chapter.

Let me dream for you
I am strong when you're weak and I'll support you
Release your own plans, accept My guidance
I will reveal my ability
When I dream for you
I have a vision for you … My child, if you knew
The plans I hold for you
Just trust me, I will see it through
Follow Me”

As we rely on God's direction for our future steps, we eagerly await the unfolding of His plan for us…

{Soon I can show you around the new place we will call “home”!}

See Our New Homes

This blog began when we resided in a farmhouse near the sea.

You can view the house we moved into, room by room, within the rental house section.

Six months later, we transitioned to the present townhouse where we currently reside.

It was a substantial adjustment; our advice on downsizing can be found here.

Seven years since this post was published, we remain deeply thankful for the home and career opportunities God provided, which far exceeded our own expectations!
