Two of life's greatest gifts are these wonderful women:
My sisters.
Even after navigating those wild formative years filled with squabbles over curling irons, they have become two of my closest companions. The age gap between us has completely faded; I cherish knowing they would support me without hesitation if I ever needed help.
The challenge is that they reside over 1,000 miles away…
While the telephone lessens the distance, I soon realized I needed companions akin to sisters closer to my current location. Such bonds don't form instantly, prompting me to begin sincere prayer.
Each year since, I have prayed for divine guidance on being a good friend, and for Him to introduce special friends who would truly understand my soul and continue to love me.
I've been delighted to observe how God has consistently answered these prayers, sending friends at opportune times and places to offer encouragement and support in areas needing it.
Kim is one such friend. We connected years ago; our children are similar in age, and she would bring her little ones to my island home for sleepovers. Being quite worn out at that time, her laughter provided necessary relief.
Our laughter has continued ever since.
Kim and her family are planning a special journey to Columbia next summer, joining others for a mission project supporting a specific needy community there. I am thrilled by her enthusiasm for this trip and have considered joining them myself…
To fund this travel, the family has organized various fundraising efforts. A few weeks ago, she and her mother decided to sell homemade baked goods in a bake and serve format. I wanted to back this fine initiative and ordered 2 peach pies.
They arrived beautifully packaged with a lovely label detailing the baking instructions.
I immediately put one in the oven. My pantry was empty, and I lacked the energy for another dinner, so the pie became our main meal… (Remember we are somewhat fatigued during the summer?)
The very first taste confirmed that my life would change forever…
Truly, it was…
Though they called it “Perfecto Peach Pie”, I decided to give it a different name.
I called Kim this morning to request the recipe so I could share it globally.
And guess what her reaction was?
She chuckled!
Can you imagine??
She then described how the entire baking process unfolded; I could visualize it.
Did I mention she made these pies alongside her mom?
I am acquainted with her wonderful mother as well.
She is not just a devoted cook, but a skilled culinary artist. She has a knack for holding back half the flour and butter from the recipe, knowing it guarantees the 'perfect' crust.
To summarize briefly:

First, prepare your absolute finest, flawless pie crust.
Next, incorporate your preferred peach pie filling, utilizing fresh peaches (and note that this particular filling included tapioca).

and dust it lightly with abundant joy.
I am quite confident these two elements hold the key.
Residents near my area should know that Kim has launched a facebook page to share updates on when the next servings of “Indulgences” will be available for purchase.
Please be cautious if they decide to offer additional peach pies.
I am already first in line and hope to secure a minimum of 10!
