A recent discussion highlighted that achieving success in a creative area requires moving past apprehension.
The outcomes are never completely certain.
The sparkle sign project from today illustrates this point perfectly.

I anticipated this would be simple, unique, and truly impressive.
It seemed like a natural addition to the Handmade Christmas ideas series ~
This would make an ideal present for a sweet individual like girly girly or a teen who enjoys all things glittering.
I began with great zeal, intending to show how wonderful it is to repurpose leftover housepaint for signs.

It turns out that most people have surplus paint lying around.
The initial difficulty arose because house paint dries significantly slower than acrylic paint.
My intended timeline was proving challenging.
Even using my blow dryer to hasten the drying, the paint dried as slowly as molasses in January.
Furthermore, my attempt to paint a precise black line down the center failed because my 'black' house paint was actually panther brown, which looked terrible.
Ultimately, black acrylic paint was necessary.
Even though the paint felt slightly sticky, I decided to apply the word “sparkle” (using this fun font !) on the white section.
When I carefully removed my pattern, I discovered the graphite paper had left black smudges across my bright white paint…
Though I was tempted to discard the whole thing, I persevered.
I retrieved my sandpaper and changed my 'modern' sign concept into a charming distressed look.
This action successfully removed the smudges…
Next, I added the painted “sparkle” and was eager to finish with stenciled polka dots in metallic gold.

Oh, dear.
I never realized the paint was translucent; it appeared quite unappealing.
So, I implemented plan X~
I used metallic gold sheets from my scrapbook supply.
I cut out large circles with a large circle punch and adhered them (over the stencil imperfections) using a light coat of liquid glass (which functions as an adhesive).

What a relief that is
A shimmering decoration finally appears
