Transform an unused upstairs landing area into a walk-in closet, perfect for a historic residence with limited bathroom storage.
Apologies for the delay yesterday; I showed you the initial 'before' photos of our upstairs landing but withheld the final reveal!
The suspense is partly because this small room isn't entirely complete, which is slightly frustrating.
This project proved more demanding than anticipated, but since we're friends, come see the progress so far…
Yesterday, our upstairs 'Landing,' situated just outside the bedroom door, resembled this:
That image followed the difficult task of sorting through roughly 3 years of paper piles; the 'office' moved, and I began optimizing our clothing storage and general upstairs organization.
Following numerous furniture rearrangements and drawer cleanouts, this is how it looks now:
I've named it the 'Shabby Glam Walk In Closet.' The blend of shabby and glam presented a design hurdle; while I favor 'shabby and rustic,' incorporating a touch of glam without being excessive was trickier than expected…
Inspired by my favorite reference photos, I used gold spray paint to update the dresser knobs.
I am quite pleased with the result, and I accented it further with spray-painted picture frames and gold lettering on art.
The vanity serves as a highly functional piece of furniture within our home.
Each morning, I utilize it for applying makeup and styling my hair.
As I finalize this space, I realize it requires patience; I am testing different aesthetics, trying things for a few days, and then making minor adjustments if they aren't quite right. More finishing touches are planned ~
Nevertheless, I am delighted with this lovely (and highly practical!) little area for the moment…
