Here in the corner of our West Coast world, the gray sky has settled in.

This is the time of year when our woodstove crackles all day, brittle, colorful leaves find their way onto the entryway floor, and I dig out the happy Christmas music.
It’s also the season when I look for ways to add a little more light and sparkle to the house.
I’ve wanted to try an idea ever since my friend Coleen gave me this pretty wallpaper months ago.

The background is close to the color of our living room wall, and the leaf pattern has a subtle, shiny metallic sheen. The moment I laid eyes on it, I knew I wanted it as the background for my next bookcase. I finally got around to it the other day.

That small change completely transformed the look of the living room. I gathered up all the sparkly and metallic-toned things I could find in the nooks and crannies of our house…and added a few rustic, natural elements for contrast. I call it “A Little Bit Country…”

And “A Little Bit Rock and Roll”.;)

Then I needed a way to work some twinkle lights into the mix. A quick trip outside with the pruners solved that dilemma.

These gray days just need a little twinkle sprinkled in…

Hope you’re having a wonderful day in your little Fall (or Winter?) corner of the world…
