My sister Susan, a creative soul, first inspired my crafting journey some time ago; her home decor is wonderfully charming. If she ever started a blog, she would surely share delightful and economical project ideas. I regret not capturing more images of her house, yet I did manage to photograph the welcoming vignette outside her front door:

Doesn't that look lovely?
She mentioned to me before I left that she was planning a “Birthday Brunch” one morning while Becky and I were nearby. Since we often can't celebrate on our actual birthdays, she wanted a special occasion while we were together. I was thrilled from the outset; Susan excels at thoughtful details and decoration.

The table setting was exquisite, the menu was thoughtfully prepared, and the food was perfectly hot and ready on time. It was such a joyful time, prompting me to consider hosting more gatherings. Perhaps we all need an occasion to utilize that beautiful china and silver, wouldn't you agree? I should probably look into making that happen…
One of the delicious items she prepared for us was Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast served with Blueberry Syrup. It was truly delectable.

This recipe allows for preparation in advance, helping to prevent last-minute stress, which I appreciate greatly. I am sharing the recipe below should you wish to recreate it.
Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast:
12 slices of bread
2 pkgs (8 oz each) of cream cheese
1 cup of blueberries, whether fresh or frozen
12 eggs
2 cups of milk
1/3 cup of honey
Dice the bread into 1 inch cubes. Spread half in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Cube the cream cheese and layer it over the bread. Top with blueberries and the rest of the bread pieces. Next, whisk the eggs in a large bowl, then incorporate the milk and honey. Blend thoroughly. Pour this mixture over the bread arrangement. Cover and chill for a minimum of 8 hours, or overnight. Before baking, let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove the cover and continue baking for another 25 – 30 minutes until it achieves a golden hue and the center is set.
Blueberry Sauce:
1 cup of sugar
2 Tblsp. of cornstarch
1 cup of water
1 cup of blueberries, fresh or frozen
1 Tblsp. of butter
In a small saucepan, mix the sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then cook and stir for 3 minutes. Stir in the blueberries and lower the heat. Simmer for 8 – 10 minutes until the blueberries begin to burst. Stir in the butter until it melts completely. Serve over the warm french toast.
Enjoy this treat!
