I was stirred from sleep by the sound of birds this morning. Though I initially felt annoyed by the constant chirping outside, I soon recognized it as a positive sign. It was the cheerful noise of Spring making its arrival known!
Even though our recent weather was unusual with last week's snowfall, I chose to celebrate the arrival of Spring today. It may be early, but I am ready for the change in season!
We have a container sitting outside our entrance that, until recently, was filled with evergreen branches. After removing them and throwing them away, this is how it appeared:

It was a sad, sorry sight...
While I was at the shop picking up my weekly groceries like milk and eggs, I also grabbed a few new plants.

The price was less than a small bouquet of flowers (around $8.00, to be exact), and these plants are quite resilient. They can handle cold weather well.
After some planting and watering, the container looked like this:

Ah... much better!

Although I wouldn't call myself a gardening expert, I have learned from past experience that with some care—like watering and removing dead blooms—these primroses should remain lovely for a long while.

And if everything goes according to plan, the tulips will begin flowering once the irises have finished their bloom... {Well, I certainly hope so!}

I do enjoy a fresh bouquet of flowers on my kitchen table, but sometimes it is nice to plant a living arrangement instead.
And if snow makes a comeback, it serves as a wonderful reminder that Spring is definitely on its way!
