Celebrate the Christmas season with friends & family using these fun Hallmark movie party game ideas that work for all ages!
The other night, somewhere between “Christmas at Cranberry Lane” and “Don’t Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater,” I had a sudden thought.
“Wouldn’t a Hallmark movie Christmas party game night be so much fun?!”
I told my husband, and before long we had loads of ideas and were laughing until we were silly!
If you’re new to Hallmark Christmas movies, let me explain.
They’re sappy romantic comedies with predictable plots, plenty of fake snow, loads of Christmas décor, and always, always a happy ending!
And romance, with an awkward kiss at the end. :)
I’m a fan, along with many, many others.
If you haven’t found them yet, check out the 2025 Hallmark Movie Schedule here.
But if you’re in Canada, you’ll soon be asking, “Where can I watch Hallmark movies here?”
Up here we don’t have the Hallmark channel! Still, the W Network has us covered with many of the same Hallmark Channel movies that air in the US.
Now that you know where to watch, let’s get to the fun Christmas party game ideas!

Hallmark Movie-Themed Christmas Party Games
Hallmark Movie-Themed Dress-Up Party
Part of the fun of Hallmark movies is the “formula” behind the cast. Watch a few and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Here are a few costume and character ideas:
- Grandma – wearing a flour-dusted apron and baking Christmas cookies
- Princess – in a fancy gown, ready for the Christmas Ball
- Prince – in a suit or tux, ready to whisk his sweetheart off to a Christmas Ball
- Christmas Tree Farm Worker – in jeans, a plaid button-down, a scarf, and a hat
- Town Mayor – business casual
- Christmas gift shop owner – in a business dress
- The heroine – red coat, scarf & hat, or a red dress
- Kids – dressed for school or for a snowball fight in the town square
- Hero – nice jeans, a dressy outdoor coat (like a wool trench coat), and a plaid scarf
- Any character – in flannel pajamas and slippers, sipping cocoa and gazing at the Christmas tree lights!
If this game is part of a big event in a large space, set up a photo booth so guests can snap selfies as they arrive in costume!

Hallmark Christmas Movie Relay Game
You’ll want to tailor this idea to the space you’re playing in. The basic premise is this:
Set up “stations,” where each player has to complete a specific task.
Guests can play as teams racing against each other, or as individuals trying for the fastest time.
If you’re playing at home with family, I think it’s fun to set up stations in different rooms so players run from one room to the next for each step.
In a large room, you could set the stations up on long tables, with 2 teams racing each other.
Setting up the Hallmark Christmas Movie Relay Game:
- At a table: Put a plate of plain sugar cookies beside bowls and bags of different colored icing. Players must ice a Christmas cookie and place it on a cookie tray.
- In the kitchen: Write hot chocolate instructions on a recipe card. Beside it, set out hot chocolate mix, water, mugs, spoons, marshmallows, and canned whipped cream. Players must read the card and follow every step to make a perfect cup, then place it on a hot chocolate tray. (If kids are playing, skip the boiling water and have them make cold chocolate milk instead.)
- In a bedroom: Pile coats, scarves, mittens, and boots of different sizes on the bed. Players must bundle up as if they’re stuck in an Alaskan blizzard!
- By the front door: Stack disposable containers or bowls within easy reach. Players run outside (already bundled up for the cold!), fill a container with snow (ready for a snowball fight?), and leave it outside the front door. If there’s no snow where you live, players can take a cup of ice from the freezer and leave the bowl in the sink instead.
- In the living room: Provide a box of tangled battery-operated Christmas fairy lights. Players must untangle a strand and wrap it around a small Christmas tree or ornament.
- In the living room: Set a bowl of wrapped Hershey’s Kisses on the coffee table. Players unwrap one and eat it! (Because every Hallmark movie ends with a kiss!)
- The finish line: Players ring a jingle bell to finish!
How to Play the Hallmark Christmas Movie Relay Game:
Time each guest as they complete the relay course. The fastest one wins!
The winner could receive a small prize, like a hot chocolate bomb with a gift tag!
Try the Hallmark Movie Scavenger Hunt Game (with free printables)
Planning a relaxed Christmas party evening? Build it around a Hallmark movie. Put out some frozen hot chocolate and rolled sugar cookies, have guests or family slip into cozy slippers, and settle in for a fun Christmas movie scavenger hunt. (Details below.)

How to prepare the scavenger hunt:
Print the free scavenger hunt cards I created by visiting the VIP Printables Library and entering your password. No password yet? No problem! Click the button below to join for instant access!

I’d suggest printing the cards on cardstock for extra durability, or on regular printer paper slipped into a clipboard.
Give each guest a scavenger hunt card and a pen or marker.
How to play the Hallmark movie scavenger hunt:
As you watch a Hallmark Christmas movie together, each person looks for the items on their card. When an item appears on screen, they mark it “found.” Every card is different, so the winner really comes down to luck!
The winner could take home a small Christmas gift, like a hot chocolate bomb or a fireside coffee mix.
