I have been preparing numerous batches of blackberry jam; it is currently my main method of preservation. I enjoy a taste on toast with peanut butter, and occasionally I gift a jar. Before moving them to the basement cooler, I decorated several for easy use as a hostess present.
Materials Required:
- Cardstock in any shade you prefer; the example below uses two distinct colors.
- Scallop-shaped paper punch
- Scissors
- Pen
- Fine Tipped Art Marker
- Baker’s Twine
- Buttons (These floral buttons are quite charming!)
A guide detailing how to adorn a jam jar with paper.
- Outline a jam jar lid matching the size of the jar you are decorating, then use sharp scissors to cut them out.

- Remove the ring from the sealed jam jar, position the cut-out circle of cardstock over the lids, and then secure the rings back on.

- Employ the scallop paper punch to cut a matching cardstock color, then write a personalized message on it; affix these to the top of the lids using a glue stick, glue, glue gun, or rolled tape.

- Wrap the jar a few times with some bakers twine and secure it with a bow; use a hot glue gun to fasten a button to the center of that bow.

The final embellishment was securing a small button with hot glue.

They are now prepared for gifting!
