Introduce warmth and comfort to your residence for the autumn season with simple, affordable decor inspiration.

Achieving a Cozy Autumn Look Indoors
1. Decorate Farmhouse Shelves with Muted Pumpkins and Natural Accents
Since the main living area of our townhouse is a single room, my focus was there. I began in the Dining Room section, styling the farmhouse shelves we constructed in a Fixer Upper style.

To prevent clutter, I used muted hues like white, gray, and foliage. A helpful technique I noticed others employ includes stacking dinnerware, incorporating natural objects like pine cones, and varying the heights of white pitchers on the shelves.

Because the bright orange of the Dollar Store pumpkins from last year was too vivid, I quickly applied gray chalk paint. A wooden tray filled with artificial greenery, acorns, and the painted pumpkins provided a subtle autumnal touch.

2. Style a Table Centerpiece with Fresh Blooms for Fall

The idea for the table centerpiece originated from my small patio garden! Hydrangeas and snap dragons were flourishing that day, so I gathered them inside to enjoy.

Using a large wooden lazy susan layered with a round woven tray holding farmhouse-style decor creates a striking table display. As the other room decor is neutral, I have the flexibility to switch the fresh flower colors at any time.

3. Incorporate Truly Vintage Pieces into Billy Bookcase Shelves

The Living Room is located across the Dining Room. Its feature wall consists of Ikea Billy Bookcases that we adapted to resemble built-ins—with a farmhouse shiplap wall accent in the center.
I refer to these as my farmhouse bookshelf.

To infuse the cozy feeling of Fall, I filled them with vintage items from my existing collection.

Layering patterns and textures, a method I used in our farmhouse master bedroom, was replicated when styling these shelves!
I began by arranging all my aged books. Following that, I added wooden accents, greenery, and metal objects.

I believe vintage items lend significant character to a space—and many of these pieces are genuine vintage—carrying special memories!
An old bag with wooden handles and knitting needles might not be typical shelf decor, yet it brings a smile while reminding me of the kind lady who owned it…

Although I wished for a glass cloche for these vintage primer alphabet tiles, an inverted mason jar set in a vintage saucer works perfectly!
3. Arrange Items in a Tray for a Simple Coffee Table Display

The coffee table offers a wonderful spot to introduce seasonal color and style into the Living Room. This small “Be Thankful” sign, acquired from Hobby Lobby a few years back, is appropriate year-round, especially near Thanksgiving!
Similar to the Dining Room table setup, I can easily substitute fresh flowers to introduce a completely new color accent to the room.
4. Showcase Wool Plaid Throws and Autumn Scented Candles

The armchairs in the Living Room are also adorned with vintage plaid blankets, which perfectly enhance the warm feeling of Autumn alongside a fragrant candle.
If you wish to bring autumnal comfort to your dwelling, I have listed these vintage plaid throws and a vanilla pumpkin candle in my Amazon Shop.
Wishing you a wonderfully snug Autumn day, dear friend!
